Jamecyn morey
Jamecyn Morey is an active solo, chamber and orchestral violinist residing in Albany, New York. She is a Faculty Fellow at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has been a member of the first violin section of the Albany Symphony, serving as Concertmaster and Assistant Concertmaster for the past four seasons.
An avid performer of chamber music, Jamecyn entertains a busy performance schedule with several ensembles in the Northeast. The Spira piano quartet is an exciting new ensemble that was formed in 2023 to premier a commissioned work through Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where several of the members are Faculty Fellows. The quartet balances programs by exploring culturally relevant musical periods paired with newly-composed pieces. Spira released its first recording on ReverbNation in 2024.
For the past two decades she has performed in the Copernicus Duo with cellist and husband, David Bebe. The duo has performed in Canada at the Domaine Forget and Orford Music Festivals, and in France at the Courchevel Festival. This ensemble has commissioned and premiered many new works and has appeared as featured artists for Festival Miami and The National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts Chamber Music Showcase. Currently they perform, as members of The Cantus Trio with pianist Noah Palmer.
Jamecyn joined the Hyperion String Quartet as second violinist in 2009. Praised by The Strad magazine for their “uncommonly high level of homogeneity and confidence”, the Hyperion String Quartet has performed on many prestigious concert series throughout the United States, and was one of ten ensembles chosen from around the world to compete in the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 2011.
As a soloist, Jamecyn has appeared with orchestra at Lincoln Center as part of their Distinguished Concerts International New York series. She has also performed as a soloist with the Young Musicians and Artists Festival Orchestra in Oregon, the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra, and the Saint Rose Symphony Orchestra. As a member of the ASO Dogs of Desire ensemble, she completed the premiere recording of Michael Daugherty’s “This Land Sings" as solo violin for Naxos Records.
A Chicago-area native, Jamecyn was accepted into the Interlochen Arts Academy for high school, where she pursued violin performance as well as literature and creative writing. She went on to receive performance degrees from Indiana University, studying with Yuval Yaron and Ilya Kaler, and Roosevelt University as a student of Robert Chen, Concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. While in Chicago she was a member of the Civic Orchestra and held chamber music residencies with Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago City Colleges through Civic’s MusiCorp program.
After completing her Master’s Degree, Jamecyn joined the New World Symphony in Miami Florida, where she led the orchestra as Concertmaster under the direction ofMichael Tilson-Thomas and worked with soloists such as Gil Shaham and Itzhak Perlman. She was also faculty at the New World School of the Arts and held a chamber music residency with the Miami Music Project
